Plantain continued

To heal minor wounds,  stings, bites and rashes a poultice is the quickest way. Crush or bruise the leaves and apply them directly to the skin. You can even chew them and spit it out onto the sting or bite immediately to ease the pain, swelling and possibly infection. It can also help remove stingers, slivers, glass shards or any foreign object under or in the skin. If you don't need immediate attention, then grab a handful of leaves, tear, crush or bruise them ,apply to the skin and cover with gauze. Change as needed.

Plantain will also help a snake bite. Much of this depends on the snake type and how quickly you administer the remedy. Apply a poultice of fresh leaves to draw out the venom, reapply as needed along with  2 Tablespoons of freshly pressed juice or 1 teaspoon of plantain tincture. It is important to treat the wound and take internally. You can also use the tincture as a poultice if fresh leaves are not available.

To make pressed juice, grab a handful of leaves, throw them in the blender with a bit of water. Take the juice and run it through a sieve to remove the fibrous material and drink. To use the tincture as a poultice if you have a dropper then use it directly applying to the wound. If you do not have a dropper apply the tincture to a cotton ball or cloth and apply to the bite.

The juice is also good for calming inflammation of the mucus membranes of the respiratory tract, digestive tract, and urinary tract. This method is preferred for UTI,, Respiratory tract infection, ulcers and colitis.

There are also claims of weight loss with this method.

Recommended dose is 1 cup 3-4 times daily.

I however recommend starting with 2 times a day as the properties are cumulative, meaning they will build up over time. Autoimmune Diseases and Leaky gut respond well to plantain tea.

Plantain Uses and Dosage continued:

Direct Application of leaves on a toothache or infection is very effective for pain, swelling, and infection. Combined with clove oil is even better. Soak a cotton ball or gauze in clove oil, apply leaves and the cotton ball on or in the infected areas. Dried leaves can be used if fresh are not available.

1 tablespoon plantain juice can be added to half a cup of water and used for a sore throat gargle or to ease swelling gums.

The seeds of the plantain are also very useful. They are the spikes coming out of the center of the plant. They are small and can take awhile to collect, but they are worth it. If you have IBD, constipation, or feel you might need a parasitic cleanse this will work. Drink 1 cup of plantain seed infusion at bed time, making sure you swallow the seeds.
