Plantain has metabolites with 60 secondary metabolites. These help regulate your metabolism. It changes cells in your immune system so they are more efficient.

An alcohol extraction of the leaves found: stimulates the lymphatic system, attacks cancer cells. It was tested on human cancer cells of the colon, cervix, ovaries, oral and soft tissue of the head and was deemed partially effective.  Stimulates the growth of bone marrow cells, spleen and red blood cells. Showed anti-bacterial, Anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-malaria and anti-Giardia,( bug that upsets your stomach) properties.

Alcohol or water extracts of the seeds and leaves are anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever.

Hot water extracts of the seeds will protect the liver, can be used to treat internal parasites, and stomach issues. Decreases stomach acid, inhibits ulcers, helps IBD, and lowers blood sugar.

The same extracts will improve the healing of Leukemia, and viral infections.

A decoction of hot and cold, water and alcohol of seeds and leaves have antioxidants, it also has 4 flavonoids that can induce cell death in cancer cells of the breast and melanoma.

Water extract of seeds and leaves had a small effect on the herpes virus, HSV-1, HSV-2 and against a virus named ADV-3. This is a virus that causes cold and/or flu symptoms.

Last but not least they did an Acetone extract. This worked on E.coli, Staphylococcus, a viral pneumonia and Salmonella, depending on the concentration. Yes acetone extraction is a thing and in small doses it will not hurt you. Most Herbalists  would not do such an extraction as you cannot determine how anyone is going to react. It is just not a common thing.
